I wandered around Dogpatch and took photos of street and business signs, and changed their meanings by photographing only parts of words and sentences — a sign that said notice, for example, suddenly became not ice. I printed them out and placed them next to the originals, altering the signage in the landscape.
Since this project began, many of the original signs have disappeared due to the demolition of Pier 70. My photographs now exist as an inaccurate archive.
